Heartstart - Police Scotland Youth Volunteers Stranraer (PSYV)

This well attended group has been running for about 4 years at Stranraer Academy as an “after school club”. Members throughout the summer attend events across the region, assisting police with stewarding etc.; and tend to be long term members!   Several have joined Police Scotland on leaving school.

Heartstart (Newton Stewart) have been involved with their training over that 4 year period and, with the latest “batch” being trained on Tuesday 15^th January, all members of the team are now proficient in Emergency Life Support. As an after school club, resources are very tight and there is no money for external instructors, such as ourselves to come in. We are all very grateful for the support of the NHS Endowment fund in paying for the travel expenses of our volunteers.
