A special thanks to Maureen Farrell, BHC volunteer in Dumfries and Lower Nithsdale, who broke down the strategic presentations and vocalised it as a real life event, thus making it more accessible for all the community members that were present.

Afternoon Workshop

Three different workshops were held in the morning, focussing on the three strands of the programme. Older people, Carers and those with LTC’s. In the afternoon, the workshop was focussed on partnership working with the idea of setting up a steering group for the Self Management Programme.

Many thanks to all who attended for making the day so productive. Also, thanks to the Douglas Arms for their help in setting up the event and providing an excellent service throughout the day.

Look out for future Blogs in all the other BHC areas. BHC West Wigtownshire, BHC Upper Nithsdale and BHC Lower Nithsdale and Dumfries Town, will all be creating Blogs soon with the assistance of our resident Blogmeister.

Look out also for a new Blog for the Self Management Programme. We will announce dates for these as they are developed.

Self Defence Class for Volunteers

The self defence for women course was held last week and all that attended had a great time . Kenneth, the trainer was “Very pushy and Scary” at times, but the course was greatly appreciated and worthwhile. It was however very amusing too see a wee woman take on a six foot plus man!!
