If there is sufficient demand, Building Healthy Communities, working with South Machars Community Centre, intend opening a Community Shed in Whithorn. This is like a Mens Shed but also for women and young people. There would be a variety of handicrafts and, importantly, a kettle and coffee table. It is intended to open 5 days a week, with morning and afternoon sessions. There are many health benefits from attending this initiative, from increasing physical fitness by walking from home to the Shed, becoming actively engaged in what is going on or simply combating loneliness by spending time with like minded people.

Monday Club
Another good morning at Monday Club. Kevin and Peter from PIRSAC came to speak about the work done by the inshore rescue. They showed members the kit that they wear when out at sea and other lifesaving equipment. A life jacket was passed around so members could feel the weight and were surprised at how heavy it was. Many questions were asked.
One member took a charity box to place in her grandson's ice cream parlour in Newton Stewart and the members gave a donation to PIRSAC who are celebrating 40 years this year.
Members spoke of going to Port William to have coffee and a cake at The View coffee shop (profits from The View go to PIRSAC).
