Isle of Whithorn Youth Group - Naughty and Nice

Last night, Wednesday, the Isle of Whithorn older youth group had a "Naughty and Nice" session. This involved melting plain chocolate as well as chilli flavoured chocolate and then drizzling this onto fruit kebabs which the group prepared themselves. A bit messy at times, but a great way to tempt people to eat various fruits.

Great fun was had by all!!

We would like to thank Stranraer African Drumming Group for entertaining us.  Hope to see you all again next year!!

Jills in the Community - Kaos Cafe

Yesterday saw the completion of the decorating in the main room of Kaos Cafe in Wigtown. This little project has involved the Jills, along with Youth Workers from the CLD service as well as young people from the youth group, preparing the doors, walls, windows and woodwork for re-painting.

The Jills were in the Cafe yesterday, applying 2 coats of gloss paint to the skirting boards and doors.

Later in the year, an artist is coming in to design a new mural for one wall and the Jills will be returning to re-decorate the kitchen area.

Well done ladies.... A great effort!!!

Jills in the Community - Kaos Cafe Wigtown

The Jills have been asked to assist the young people from Kaos Cafe in Wigtown with the redecoration of their club room. This is being done in partnership with Community Learning and Development.

The task has involved washing and sanding walls and woodwork in preparation for undercoating. The young people have been involved in all stages as shown in the photos.

After preparation, a first undercoat was completed, including a colour change. Compare the photos!

The Jills are revisiting the cafe on Wednesday to give the woodwork a final coat of White Gloss paint. The finished job will be available to be seen next week.

Well done to all who have assisted. A new carpet and some new furniture will finish it off within the next few weeks!!.

Kirkinner after School Youth Club

A new After School youth club has been started at Kirkinner School and Building Healthy Communities were asked to come along to give a talk and provide some fruit kebabs for the children to try. As can be seen, all the fruits were soon eaten!!

The children were asked if they would like to try cooking their own tea in the future and the response was " Yes Please". We will be visiting the youth group again after Easter.
