Strategic Plan for Health and Social Care Integration Consultation 2016 - 2019
Share your views and help shape health
and care services in Dumfries and Galloway.
In preparation for the
Integration of Health and Social Care in Dumfries and Galloway, (The
Public Bodies (Joint Working) (Scotland) Act 2014), we are required to develop
a Strategic Plan for health and
social care that sets out how we will plan and deliver care and support
services for the region.
To help do this, a consultation
document for a strategic plan has been prepared by integration partners. The
consultation on this document is from Monday
22 June to Friday 28 August 2015 and we are very keen to hear the views and
comments of as many people as possible.
If you require the Consultation Document in other formats or hard
copies, these are available by emailing dg.integration@nhs.net or tel: 01387 272749.
You can submit your comments using the questionnaire at the back of the
consultation document.
Also available are information leaflets about the Strategic Plan:

Jills in the Community
The garden being developed in the local community by the Jills will be finished in a couple of weeks!
A local resident, John, donated many plants to start the garden looking wonderful. Thanks for your generosity John. There has been a tremendous change in the appearance, and when the grass seed is sown in a couple of weeks, it will be a new garden!!

Monday Club - Fruit Pizza
The members of the Monday Club were treated to a "Pizza" workshop....Fruit Pizza!!
With so many people having children and grandchildren visiting over the summer, Dave thought of a creative way to encourage people to eat healthily, albeit a little differently!!
Using watermelon slices as a base (pizza base with tomato sauce), a thin layer of whipped cream was spread on (a bit like Mozzarella cheese) then, added to that, a variety of fruit toppings according to taste and design. Take a look at all the designs...very creative.
Comments from the group were:
"What a wonderful idea!"............"It looks great!"............" So healthy"............"I'm going to do this for my dinner party that i am holding at the weekend"
After such a creative session, Pam was on hand for gentle exercise, relaxing and invigorating in her normal exuberant fashion.
All the group went away happy with their creations to eat for lunch or dinner.
There is NO Monday Club on the 3rd August, so the next meeting will be on the 17th August with a talk by the Continence Nurse.

Wigtown Civic Week - Cooking on a Budget/Healthy Cooking
At the Healthy Cooking session being offered by BHC during Wigtown Civic Week, a range of children and families took part. They had a quick demonstration as to how to prepare and cook a nutritious and balanced meal, before they had a go themselves.
Today's recipe was Chicken Fajitas, which used all fresh ingredients with a little bit of spice for a "kick" if some wanted, which they did!!
It was a very successful afternoon with some very good feedback from both the adults and the children who participated. Shona, the organiser of the Civic Week made enquiries about setting up an inter-generational cooking group and will be looking into funding for this potential new initiative, working in partnership with BHC,
Great results from all!!

Newton Stewart Youth Club - Healthy Cooking
Jills in the Community
The Jills have been busy the last couple of weeks building a box lid to fit an existing puppy box. With accurate measurement and cutting, they are now in the last phase, which is to cut a circular hole to allow the mother dog to enter and leave safely. Great work!
Here are the results of the first hour on the new project!!
The next project has also commenced, the clearing of a garden for a local community member who is not able to do this type of work for herself. Over the next few weeks, it is hoped to transform the wilderness into a garden that is accessible and easier to maintain.
Here are the results of the first hour on the new project!!
