A Brew and A Blether - Glentrool

A Brew & A Blether is a new project set up by Glentrool & Bargrennan Community Trust in partnership with the Riverside Day Centre in Newton Stewart and Building Healthy Communities.

With the help of a grant from the NHS Day Opportunities fund, the Trust is hosting a series of monthly events where Glentrool & Bargrennan residents  can join members of the Riverside for an afternoon of entertainment and activities in Glentrool Community Centre.  The Brew is nothing stronger than tea or coffee, since making your own beer is not one of the activities on the programme to date (at least not so far).  The first event on 17th December was a great success with forty-eight members and staff from the Riverside arriving by coach to be joined by a number of Glentrool residents for an hour of music in the capable hands of Ray Hitchcock.  .

A programme for the first three months of 2015 is now being finalised and if all goes according to plan Glentrool will be hosting a Brew & a Blether on a monthly basis throughout the year.

Monday Club

On Monday 19th, the members of the club enjoyed a very competitive session of Boccia and New Age Curling. It's amazing how enthusiastic everyone becomes when there is a competition!!!

Next meeting, 2nd February, there is a talk by Davina Brooks about Benefits advice. This should be really interesting.

Monday Club December 2014

Well folks, that's Christmas over again and as we enter a new year, 2015, let us remember the fun we had in December at our Monday Club.

December 1st brought an extremely entertaining morning by the Lowland Lassies. Wonderful harmonising by the lassies and a sing song by us ”The Monday Clubbers”!!!!  All finished off with a few festive numbers and of course the morning would not have been complete without our Pam taking us through our paces with seated exercises to music to bring our final meeting of the year to a close.

Our Christmas trip on the 15th of December was a great day out. Firstly, Christmas Lunch at Hetland Hall Hotel followed by a visit to Hetland Garden Centre. We were joined on the trip by some volunteers from Building Healthy Communities as a thank you for their work throughout the year.

We would like to give a BIG THANKS from all the Monday Club Members to Nathalie and the team at Building Healthy Communities, especially Samantha, for all the support we get all year through and for providing us with the coach for the trip. Special thanks also to Sally Willison for donating a little gift for everyone at the Christmas Lunch and to Esme for her great work throughout the year with our newsletters.

May I wish a happy healthy new year to everyone... let's have a fun filled year starting with Boccia, New Age Curling and Tai Chi for starters!  I am off on my travels to sunnier climes ... so see you all in February! The next meeting is on Monday 19th January with a talk by Davina Brooks from DAGCAS regarding benefits.
